Never fear: we’ve got the cure!  Escape Italy-style with the help of our five favorite finds from this week:
  1. Take five and tour Venice’s breathtaking canals and architecture via National Geographic.

The Friday Five

The Friday Five

We're stymied that December is here already: where did 2016 go?!?!  In an attempt to sit back and pause for a second (and try to get our bearings), we've decided this month to look back at the year, specifically at our favorite news stories and other things that made us smile.  So, without further ado, here are five of our favorite things from the 2016 archives:

1.  The most recent first: we're taking notes (and seriously rethinking our cookie consumption) from the oldest woman in the world.

2. We're a little bummed that we didn't make it to see this mind-boggling art installation this year, but we'll console ourselves by binging on all the videos documenting it.

3.  And if binging on all the videos in #2 doesn't do the trick, at least we've got more time to get our act together and get ourselves to Rome to see the recent restoration of the Colosseum: we do love a good archaeological facelift!

4. We're still waiting for this pasta packaging to become a reality (maybe we'll just have to ask Santa to lend a hand...).

5. This bewitching video was made for a shoe exhibit at the V&A, but if you're hailing from New England, you're in luck: the traveling exhibit recently opened at the Peabody Essex Museum!

A presto!

The Friday Five: Wanderlust Edition

The Friday Five: Wanderlust Edition

We're already dreading next week's traffic and crowds as we race towards the promise of Thanksgiving dinner.  To distract ourselves from the impending travel-induced headache , we've been daydreaming of new places to see and explore.  And, we've come up with quite the list (if we do say so ourselves).  So, without further ado, here are the top five from this week's wanderlust list:

1. North: well, north of Rome, that is.  We're packing our stretchiest pants in anticipation of all the restaurants and gelaterias on this food-tastic guide.

2. South: whether you're looking to indulge your inner beach bum, history nerd, or Godfather-super-fan, Sicily has you covered.  We love this insider's guide to the island (and can't get enough of the author's beach wardrobe: need, want, must have!)

3. East: near the coast of the Adriatic Sea exists a fountain of mythical proportions that pours forth wine instead of water.  All you need to do is pack a glass (or water bottle, we won't judge).

4. West: we love the idea of getting off the beaten [American tourist] track.  This island is now at the top of our list (there's more to read about it here too).

5. The Rest: whether Veneto makes your heart sing, Tuscany makes your soul smile, or Piedmont makes your heart go pitter-pat, this guide won't fail you in helping come up with yet another Italian town to add to your "to visit" list.

A presto!

The Friday Five: Feeling Like...

The Friday Five: Feeling Like...

It's Been Quite a Week.

We think we can all agree that it has been an exhausting week.  So in the spirit of needing a distraction (or two), our weekly roundup has you covered, whether you feel like you need to regroup, renew, reflect, or just relax.  And so, without further ado, and in no particular order, here we go:

1. Feel like you need to carbo load? Throw together this fantastically cheesy pasta, gobble it down, and enjoy a good old fashioned food coma.

2. Feel like you need a dose of something simply sweet to make you sweetly smile? The instagram account @notmynonni won't let you down.

3. Feel like you need to teleport somewhere? This stunning video of Venice will instantly transport you to La Serenissima.

4. Feel like you need a drink? We'd recommend trying one of these fantastic negroni variations.

5. Feel like you need to close your eyes for a minute and lose yourself in the beauty of it all? A little Verdi and Pavarotti are just the thing.

A presto!

Team Idoni

P.S. Still feel like you need something more? Perhaps to giggle with the silly abandon of a little kid? Bugs, Elmer, and Rossini always have your back (if you're super desperate for a laugh, we recommend you jump to 2:50).

The Friday Five: From The History Books

The Friday Five: From The History Books

Another week, another roundup.  This week we've been indulging our inner Indiana Jones and have been all about history, archaeology, and vintage wines that are making a comeback (hey, it's a type of historical study!).  So without further ado, here are the top five things that have captured our attention and imagination this week:

1. We always get particularly excited when two of our loves collide: in this case, it's bubbly and history.  We're now on the hunt, trying to get our hands on a bottle of this stuff.

2. We can't get enough of this Instagram account: we love the daily history facts and the fact we can vicariously live our childhood dream of being an archaeologist through the posts.

3. Where can you go for tales of swashbuckling, kidnapping, and mosaics all in one place? The heart of Venice, of course!

4. Our history lessons this week continued with this fascinating video  on how Venice "works": we have to (sheepishly) admit that a lot of what we assumed to know about Venice turned out to be myth (or just plain misinformation).

5. We love this collection of vintage images, but something in particular about the first one has us wishing we could recreate it (who doesn't want to be served coffee on a boat in the middle of Piazza San Marco?!?!)

Weekly Recap

Weekly Recap

It's been a busy couple of weeks!  This week we don't have much of a theme beyond the fact that we found these links fascinating or just plain funny.  So, without further ado (and in no particular order), please enjoy:

1. An oldie but a goodie: whenever we complain about having hard-to-fit (aka large) feet, the Statue of Liberty's size 879 shoe puts our problems in perspective.

2. As fall weather finally descends upon NYC (and we begin our winter hibernation) we've become addicted to this simple go-to pasta recipe.

3. While scarfing down our pasta from #2, our eyes have been glued to our screens watching this studio tour on repeat.  Can you say #officegoals?

4. We're simply obsessed with this Instagram account for unearthing and exposing us to some amazing makers and craftsmen (make sure to check out their Kickstarter: we're thinking it'll be a perfect addition to our coffee table book collection).

5. We're still laughing every time we watch this ad (does anybody else think Marco Polo should make a comeback as an office happy hour game?).
